Halloween near Abingdon: Millets pumpkins from £4, High Lodge Farm's trail from 10 October, Didcot's Pumpkin Express and Faringdon fireworks on the 31st.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, the last day of Oxfordshire’s half term, and the season near Abingdon starts well before it. Millets Farm’s pumpkin patch at Frilford is already open at weekends, High Lodge Farm at Culham opens its Halloween trail on Saturday 10 October, and Didcot Railway Centre runs its Pumpkin Express through half term. Everything below was read from each organiser’s own website on 3 October 2026.

The quick answer

  • Pumpkin picking: Millets Farm, Frilford, weekends from 3 October and daily from 22 October, entry from £4. High Lodge Farm, Culham, from 10 October.
  • Evening trail: Pumpkins by Night at Millets, 16 to 18 and 23 to 30 October, 5pm to 9.30pm, £15.99 online. Ages 8 and over recommended, and Millets says it is not a scare night.
  • Halloween night itself, Saturday 31 October: Faringdon’s fireworks (gates 6pm, display 7pm), Rock FestEvil at the Northcourt, and the last full day at both farms.
  • Abingdon town centre has no Halloween event of its own listed by the town council.

Millets Farm, Frilford: pumpkins, a night trail and a circus

Millets Farm Centre on Kingston Road, Frilford (OX13 5HB), west of Abingdon, is the biggest Halloween draw near the town and runs three separate events.

Pick your own pumpkins

The patch is open at weekends from Saturday 3 October, then every day from Thursday 22 October. The farm’s pumpkin page sets out two price tiers:

  • Off-peak, from £4 a person: 3 and 4 October, 10am to 3pm; 10 and 11 October, 10am to 4pm; 22 October, 10am to 4pm.
  • Peak, from £5 a person: 17 and 18 October, and Friday 23 to Friday 30 October, all 9am to 4pm. Peak tickets include timetabled entertainment and story times; off-peak is field entry only.
  • Saturday 31 October, 9am to 3pm, is the dog-friendly day.

SEND sessions run from 9am to 10am on Sunday 11 October and Monday 26 October. Under-twos go free. Booking online is cheaper than paying on the day, with a fixed £1 booking fee per transaction. The pumpkin price is not on the page; pumpkins are paid for on top of entry.

Pumpkins by Night

The evening event runs Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October and Friday 23 to Friday 30 October, 5pm to 9.30pm, with last entry at 7.30pm. It is a woodland trail with live entertainment, food trucks and fairground rides. Tickets are £15.99 online or £16.99 on the door. The farm recommends it for ages 8 and over, under-16s must be with an adult, and dogs are not allowed, assistance dogs apart. It is held in the maze complex by the overflow car park: take the main drive and turn right (Pumpkins by Night).

Note that it does not run on Halloween night itself.

Bippo’s Halloween Circus

Bippo the Clown’s big top is on the farm from Sunday 25 to Saturday 31 October, with shows at 10.30am, 1pm and 3.30pm daily. Tickets are £11.99 online, £12.99 on the door, and under-twos sit on a lap for free. Children under 16 must be supervised throughout by an adult over 18 (Bippo’s Halloween Circus).

Millets also lists Spooktacular Discos in its Sprouts Play Barn on its Halloween page, but the dates, times and prices were not on the page on 3 October; they sit in the farm’s booking system.

High Lodge Farm, Culham: the Midnight Moon Mystery trail

High Lodge Farm’s entrance is on the A415 Abingdon Road at Culham (OX14 3BN). Its Halloween page lists three runs:

  • Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October
  • Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October
  • Saturday 24 to Saturday 31 October, every day

Gates are open from 10am to 4.30pm, with last entry at 2.30pm, and the farm says it will stay open until 8pm on selected days in half term week without yet saying which. The trail is a woodland walk with Halloween scenes and hidden letters; solve the secret word and children claim a sweet treat. There is also a pumpkin patch, with pumpkins at £1 to £10 or more depending on size, paid for what you pick.

Extras cost more: barrel train rides £3 a person and a giant marshmallow to toast on the fire pits £1. Pumpkin painting is also extra. Ticket prices are not on the page itself, only in the booking system; you choose a timeslot, but the farm says you can stay as long as you like until 4.30pm. SEND sessions run from 9am to 10am on selected days, with carers free.

Parking is free in a grass field off the A415; the farm warns of mud after rain. There are no solid paths, so wheelchairs will struggle in the woodland. No dogs, except assistance dogs.

Didcot Railway Centre: the Pumpkin Express

The Great Western Society’s living museum by Didcot Parkway station (OX11 7NJ) runs a Halloween programme over half term: a mystery pumpkin trail, slime making, a trick-or-treat gift at the end of the trail, the “Phantom” diesel locomotive and, on steam days, a Ghost Carriage. The visiting engine is the Great Eastern Railway’s 1876 tank engine No. 229, known as Coffee Pot (Pumpkin Express).

The centre’s own calendar gives the days:

  • Steam days, with unlimited train rides: Saturday 24, Sunday 25 and Wednesday 28 October, Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November.
  • Discovery days, with the Halloween activities but no steam trains: Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October.

The centre’s home page lists 29 October as a steam day; its calendar marks the 29th as a Discovery day. Check the date you book.

Ticket, without Gift Aid Steam day Discovery day
Adult £18.50 £12.00
Child, 3 to 15 £11.00 £7.50
Over 65 £16.50 £9.00
Family, 2 adults and 2 children £55.00 £35.00
Under 3 Free Free

Those are the prices on the booking pages for 24 October (steam) and 29 October (discovery); the Gift Aid prices are a little higher. The centre opens from 10.30am to 4pm, with last admission at 2.30pm (opening times and prices). It has no car park of its own. The nearest are the station car parks, run by APCOA and RINGO, and none take cash: the RINGO ones need the app downloaded before you arrive (how to find us).

Halloween night, Saturday 31 October

  • Faringdon fireworks. Faringdon Town Council’s display is in the grounds of Faringdon House, gates 6pm, fireworks 7pm. The council took the event over this year from the Rotary Club and says further details will follow, so no prices yet (Faringdon Town Council). Abingdon’s own displays are later: see our fireworks page.
  • Rock FestEvil, The Northcourt LIVE, Northcourt Road, OX14 1PL, 6pm to 11.45pm, with Ozzy’s Blizzard, Dirty Mynds and HAEMA. £20 in advance plus booking fee (Paul Robins Promotions).
  • The week before, on Saturday 24 October, the same venue has Paramore UK’s “Halloweekend Mayhem”, 7.30pm to 11.45pm, £17 in advance (Paul Robins Promotions).

What we could not find

Abingdon on Thames Town Council’s events calendar, read on 3 October, lists no Halloween event in the town centre, and Abingdon Library’s October programme has no Halloween session. The Vale of White Horse District Council had not published a 2026 round-up of half term activities. We will add anything that appears.

Getting there

Millets is at Frilford, west of the town, and High Lodge Farm at Culham, to the east. Town centre car parks and charges are on our parking in Abingdon page, and road closures that week are on our roadworks and travel page. School dates for the week, including the independent schools that break up on 16 October, are on our October half term page.
